Gen Z: Zephaniah 3
Woe to the city that's all dirty and sus, oppressing the vibes!
She didn’t listen to the call; no correction, no trust in the Lord; she stayed away from her God.
Her leaders are like roaring lions; her judges are like savage wolves; they don’t even chew the bones till tomorrow.
Her prophets are fake and shady; her priests messed up the sanctuary, totally dissed the law.
The just Lord is right there; he won’t do wrong: every morning he brings the tea, never fails; but the unjust are just clueless.
I’ve cut off the nations: their towers are ghost town vibes; I made their streets empty, no one’s passing through: their cities are wrecked, no peeps left.
I thought, surely you’d fear me, take the hints; so your crib wouldn’t be cut off, even if I punished you: but they woke up early and messed up all their moves.
So chill and wait for me, says the Lord, until I rise up to take what’s mine: I’m gathering the nations to assemble the kingdoms, to drop my anger on them: all the earth’s gonna feel my fire.
Then I’ll give the people a clean vibe, so they can all call on the Lord’s name, serving him together, no cap.
From across the rivers of Ethiopia, my followers, even the daughter of my scattered crew, will bring my offerings.
In that day, you won’t feel embarrassed for all your moves against me: I’ll take away those who flex in your pride, and you won’t be acting all high and mighty on my holy mountain.
I’ll leave a humble and poor crew in your midst, and they’ll trust in the Lord’s name.
The remnant of Israel won’t do wrong or tell lies; no sus tongues found in their mouths: they’ll chill and lie down, and no one will scare them.
Sing it out, O daughter of Zion; shout it, O Israel; be hyped and rejoice with all your heart, O daughter of Jerusalem.
The Lord has wiped away your judgments, kicked out your enemy: the king of Israel, the Lord, is right there with you: you won’t see evil anymore.
In that day, it’ll be said to Jerusalem, “Don’t be scared”: and to Zion, “Keep your hands up, don’t slack.”
The Lord your God in your midst is lit; he’ll save, he’ll vibe with you in joy; he’ll chill in his love, and he’ll sing over you.
I’ll gather those who are sad for the solemn assembly, who are part of you, to whom the burden was real.
Look, at that time I’ll fix all that’s been hurting you: I’ll save the ones who are struggling, gather those who got kicked out; I’ll give them clout and fame everywhere they’ve been shamed.
At that time, I’ll bring you back, even when I gather you: I’ll make you a name and a vibe among all the people, when I flip your situation right before your eyes, says the Lord.
