Gen Z: Zechariah 8
Yo, the word from the Lord of hosts hit me again, saying,
The Lord of hosts is like, "I’m super jealous for Zion, no cap, and I’m lowkey furious about it."
The Lord said, "I’m back in Zion, chillin’ in Jerusalem: it’s gonna be called the city of truth, and the mountain of the Lord is the holy mountain."
The Lord of hosts is saying, "Old folks will still be vibing in the streets of Jerusalem, with their canes, just living their best lives."
The city’s streets will be lit with boys and girls just playing around, having a blast.
The Lord of hosts said, "If this seems wild to the remnant of this crew, should it be wild to me too?"
The Lord of hosts is like, "Check it, I’m saving my peeps from the east and the west."
I’ll bring them back, and they’ll vibe in Jerusalem: they’ll be my people, and I’ll be their God, for real.
The Lord of hosts says, "Get strong, you who hear these words from the prophets, back when we laid the foundation for the house of the Lord."
Before this, there was no hustle for anyone, no peace for those coming or going because it was all chaotic: I had everyone beefing with each other.
But now, I won’t treat this remnant like I did before, says the Lord of hosts.
The seed's gonna thrive; the vine will produce fruit, the ground will bless us, and the heavens will drop that dew; I’ll make the remnant possess all this.
It’ll be like, you were a curse before, but now I’m saving you, House of Judah and Israel; don’t trip, just be strong.
The Lord of hosts says, "I thought about punishing you when your ancestors made me mad, but I didn’t pull the trigger."
Now I’m thinking of doing good for Jerusalem and Judah these days: so chill.
Here’s the deal: Speak truth to your neighbor; keep it real with judgment and peace at your gates.
Don’t let anyone plot evil in their hearts against their neighbor; no false oaths, ‘cause all that is sus to me, says the Lord.
The word from the Lord of hosts came to me again, saying,
The Lord of hosts is like, "The fasts in the fourth, fifth, seventh, and tenth months will be joy and feasts for the House of Judah; so love truth and peace."
The Lord of hosts says, "People are gonna come, and there’ll be peeps from many cities."
Folks from one city will roll to another, saying, "Let’s dip to pray before the Lord; I’m down too."
For real, many people and strong nations will come to seek the Lord of hosts in Jerusalem and pray before Him.
The Lord of hosts says, "In those days, ten dudes from all languages will grab onto a Jew’s skirt, saying, 'We’re rolling with you, ‘cause we heard God’s with you.'"
