Gen Z: Ruth 2
Naomi had this rich dude in her fam, like a total boss, his name was Boaz.
Ruth was like, "Yo Naomi, let me hit the field and grab some grain from whoever vibes with me." Naomi was like, "Go for it, my girl."
She went and started gathering in the field after the harvesters, and guess what? She ended up in Boaz's field, who was fam with Elimelech.
Then Boaz popped up from Bethlehem and said to the harvesters, "The Lord's with you." They were like, "Bless up!"
Boaz asked his servant in charge, "Who's that girl over there?"
The servant was like, "It's the Moabite girl who came back with Naomi from Moab."
She was like, "Can I gather grain after the harvesters?" So she worked from morning till now, just chilling a bit at home.
Boaz told Ruth, "Hey, my girl, don't go to another field. Stay close to my girls here."
"Keep your eyes on the field they're reaping, and follow them. I told the guys to not mess with you. If you're thirsty, just drink from what they draw."
She fell on her face and was like, "Why you showing me grace? I'm just a stranger."
Boaz replied, "I heard all the dope stuff you've done for your mother-in-law since your husband passed. You left your fam and came here to a new crew."
"The Lord's gonna reward your work, and you'll get mad blessings from the God of Israel, under whose wings you trust."
Ruth was like, "Let me find favor in your eyes, my lord; you’ve comforted me and treated me nice, even though I'm not one of your girls."
Boaz said, "At mealtime, come eat some bread and dip your food in vinegar." She sat with the harvesters, and he gave her some roasted grain. She ate, felt full, and left.
When she got up to gather, Boaz told his young men, "Let her gather even among the sheaves, don’t give her a hard time."
"Drop some extra grain on purpose for her and don’t rebuke her."
So she gathered in the field until evening, beat out what she collected, and had about an ephah of barley.
She took it back to the city, and her mother-in-law saw what she brought in. She shared what she had saved after eating.
Her mother-in-law asked, "Where’d you gather today? Who helped you? Blessed be the dude who noticed you." Ruth showed her who she worked with and said, "The guy's name is Boaz."
Naomi was like, "Blessed be he from the Lord, who hasn’t held back kindness to the living and the dead. That dude is our close relative."
Ruth said, "He told me to stick close to his young men until the harvest is done."
Naomi told Ruth, "That's good, my girl, go out with his maidens so you don’t get caught in another field."
So she stayed close to Boaz's girls to gather till the end of barley and wheat harvest, living with her mother-in-law.
