Gen Z: Judges 2
An angel of the Lord rolled up from Gilgal to Bochim, saying, "I got you outta Egypt and brought you to this land I promised your fam; no cap, I won't break my word."
Don’t vibe with the locals here; smash their altars. You didn’t listen to me though, so why’d you do that?
So I said, "I ain't driving them out; they'll be thorns in your side, and their gods? Total sus."
When the angel dropped this news to all the Israelites, they started crying and feeling all the feels.
They named that spot Bochim and threw down some sacrifices to the Lord.
After Joshua let everyone go, the Israelites bounced to their own inheritance to claim their land.
The people served the Lord while Joshua was alive and even the elders who outlived him, who saw all the lit things God did for Israel.
Joshua, son of Nun, the Lord's homie, passed away at a solid 110 years old.
They buried him in his inheritance at Timnath–heres, in the Ephraim mountains, on the north side of Gaash hill.
That whole generation passed away, and a new one popped up that didn’t know the Lord or the dope things He did for Israel.
The Israelites started acting sus in the Lord's eyes and served Baalim.
They ghosted the Lord God of their ancestors who brought them outta Egypt, followed other gods, and got mad at the Lord.
They ditched the Lord and served Baal and Ashtaroth.
The Lord was super mad at Israel and let them get wrecked by their enemies, so they couldn’t stand up to them anymore.
Wherever they went, the Lord was against them, just like He said, and they were struggling hard.
But the Lord raised up judges to help them out from those haters.
Still, they didn’t listen to their judges and went after other gods, ditching the ways of their ancestors; they were wildin'.
When the Lord raised judges, He was there with them, saving them from their enemies while the judge was alive; He felt bad for their struggles.
But when the judge passed away, they went back to being worse than their ancestors, following other gods and not stopping their own mess.
The Lord was super mad at Israel, saying, "This crew broke my covenant and didn’t listen to me."
I won’t drive out any of the nations that Joshua left when he died, periodt.
I’m gonna see if Israel will keep it real with the Lord and walk His way like their ancestors did, or nah.
So, the Lord let those nations chill there instead of kicking them out quickly; He didn’t hand them over to Joshua.
