Gen Z: Jeremiah 49
Yo, what’s good with the Ammonites? The Lord’s like, "Does Israel not have any sons? No heirs? So why’s their king reppin’ Gad and chillin’ in their cities?"
For real, the days are coming, says the Lord, where I’ll drop a war alarm in Rabbah of the Ammonites; it’s gonna be a total wreck, and her daughters are gonna get burned up: then Israel will claim what’s rightfully theirs, says the Lord.
Cry out, Heshbon, ‘cause Ai’s done for: shout, daughters of Rabbah, put on your sackcloth; mourn and run around like crazy; their king’s going into captivity, along with his priests and princes.
Why you flexing in the valleys, flowing with vibes, O backsliding daughter? You trusted in your treasures, saying, "Who’s gonna come for me?"
Check it, I’m bringing fear on you, says the Lord God of hosts, from everyone around you; you’ll be driven out, no cap, and no one’s gonna gather up those who wander.
And later, I’ll bring back the captives of the children of Ammon, says the Lord.
About Edom, the Lord of hosts says; Is there no wisdom left in Teman? Did the wise just bounce? Is their smarts gone?
Dip out, turn back, go deep, O people of Dedan; I’m bringing Esau’s drama on him, the time I’ll check in on him.
If grape pickers come to you, wouldn’t they leave some grapes behind? If thieves come at night, they’ll just take what they need.
But I’ve laid Esau bare, exposed his secret spots, and he can’t hide: his crew is done for, and his fam and neighbors are out too.
Leave the orphans, I got them covered; let the widows vibe with me, no cap.
The Lord's like, "Yo, those who thought they were safe are about to sip from the cup of judgment; ain't nobody getting away scot-free."
I swear on myself, says the Lord, Bozrah's gonna be a ghost town, mad trash, and a whole curse; all its cities will be straight up wastelands.
Heard a rumor from the Lord, and an envoy's going to the nations, saying, "Gather up, let's roll out and fight."
I'm about to make you small among the nations, and people are gonna look at you like, "Sus."
Your fear is playing you, and your pride's got you twisted, chilling in the rock's crevices; no matter how high you fly like an eagle, I'm bringing you down, says the Lord.
Edom's gonna be a wreck: everyone passing by will be shook and hiss at all its disasters.
Just like Sodom and Gomorrah got wrecked, says the Lord, no one's gonna stick around there, not even a single dude.
Check it, he's coming up like a lion from the Jordan, ready to pounce on the stronghold; but I'm making him dip real quick: who’s my chosen one to take charge? Who can even compare to me? Who's got the schedule? And who’s the shepherd that can stand before me?
So listen to the Lord's game plan against Edom and his goals for Teman's peeps: even the smallest sheep will lead them out; he's about to turn their homes into desolation with them.
The earth shakes when they drop, and the Red Sea hears their drama, no cap.
Yo, he’s gonna swoop in like an eagle, spreading wings over Bozrah, and the tough guys of Edom gonna be shook like a woman in labor, fr.
About Damascus: Hamath’s totally lost, and Arpad’s feeling sus; they heard some bad news and now they’re all anxious, vibes are off, for real.
Damascus is weak, trying to bounce, fear got her like she’s in major pain, just like a woman in labor, periodt.
How is the city of good vibes not standing strong, the place that brings me joy!
So, her young bloods gonna fall in the streets, and all the warriors gonna be taken out that day, says the Lord of hosts, lit.
I’m about to light a fire in Damascus’s walls, and it’s gonna burn down Ben-hadad’s fancy spots.
About Kedar and the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadrezzar from Babylon gonna wreck, says the Lord; get up, roll out to Kedar, and snatch those east side dudes.
They gonna take their tents, flocks, curtains, and all their stuff, and they gonna shout that fear’s everywhere, no cap.
Dip out, go far, chill deep, Hazor folks, says the Lord; for Nebuchadrezzar from Babylon is plotting against you, and he’s got a plan, fr.
Yo, rise up and vibe with that chill nation, no worries, says the Lord, they got no gates or bars, just living solo.
Their camels gonna be straight fire, and all that cattle’s up for grabs: I’m scattering the crew from every corner, bringing chaos from all sides, says the Lord.
Hazor’s gonna be a hangout for dragons, total ghost town forever: no one’s sticking around, no cap.
The word from the Lord hit up Jeremiah about Elam when Zedekiah was king of Judah, saying,
Check it, says the Lord of hosts; I’m breaking Elam’s bow, the top dog of their strength.
I’m sending the four winds on Elam from all directions, scattering them like confetti; no nation will be safe from the outcasts of Elam.
I’m making Elam shook in front of their enemies, those hunting them down: I’m bringing the heat, my fierce anger, says the Lord; I’ll send the sword after them till they’re done for.
I’m setting my throne in Elam, and I’ll take out their king and princes, says the Lord.
But in the future, I’ll bring Elam back from the brink, says the Lord.
