Gen Z: Isaiah 48
Yo, listen up, house of Jacob, aka Israel, who came outta Judah's waters and swear by the Lord's name but ain't keeping it real or righteous, fr.
They call themselves the holy city, reppin' the God of Israel; the Lord of hosts is his name, no cap.
I've been spillin' the tea since day one; what I said popped off, and it happened like that.
I know you’re stubborn, your neck is tough like iron, and your forehead's got that brass vibe.
I told you from the jump; before it popped off, I showed you so you wouldn't flex and say your idols did it.
You heard all this, so why not spill it? I showed you fresh stuff, even hidden gems, and you didn’t even know.
They just dropped now, not from the start; even before you heard 'em, so you can’t say, "I knew that."
Yeah, you didn’t hear; yeah, you didn’t know; from the time your ears were closed, I knew you’d be sus, and you’ve been a transgressor since day one.
For my name's sake, I’ll chill on my anger and hold back for you, so I don’t cut you off, periodt.
Look, I’ve refined you, but not with silver; I picked you out in the furnace of struggle, lit.
For my own sake, for real, I’ll do it: how could my name get messed up? I won’t share my glory with anyone else.
Listen up, Jacob and Israel, my peeps; I’m the one; I’m the first and the last, bet.
My hand laid the earth's foundation, and my right hand stretched the heavens; when I call, they all show up together.
Everyone, gather and listen; who’s declared all this? The Lord’s got love for him; he’ll do his thing on Babylon, and his power’s on the Chaldeans.
It’s me, I’ve spoken; I called him, brought him, and he’s gonna be successful, no cap.
Come close and hear this; I didn’t drop secrets from the start; I’ve been here since it all began, and now the Lord God and his Spirit sent me.
Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I’m the Lord your God teaching you how to win, guiding you on the path you should take.
If only you had listened to my commands! Your peace would’ve been like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea, fr.
Your kids would’ve been like sand, and your offspring like gravel; their name wouldn’t have been cut off or destroyed in front of me.
Bounce outta Babylon, run from the Chaldeans, sing it loud, tell everyone this: the Lord has redeemed his servant Jacob.
They didn’t thirst when he led them through the deserts; he made water flow from the rock for them; he split the rock, and the water gushed out, lit.
There’s no peace for the wicked, says the Lord, periodt.
