Gen Z: Ezra 5
So the prophets, Haggai and Zechariah, were like, "Yo, God’s got a message for the Jews in Judah and Jerusalem."
Then Zerubbabel and Jeshua popped off and started building God’s house in Jerusalem, with the prophets vibing with them.
Outta nowhere, Tatnai, the governor, and his crew rolled up, asking, "Who told you to build this house and wall?"
We hit them with, "What’s the tea on the names of the dudes building this place?"
But God had the elders' backs, so they couldn’t stop the grind until it got to Darius, who got the letter about it.
Here’s the letter that Tatnai and his crew sent to King Darius:
They wrote, "Yo Darius, hope you’re chillin’."
Just so you know, we checked out Judea, where God's house is being built with some serious stones and timber, and it’s going hard.
So we asked the elders, "Who told you to build this house and these walls?"
We also wanted their names to keep it 100 for you, so we could write down the main guys.
They hit us back, saying, "We’re the servants of the God of heaven and earth, building the house that was made ages ago by a dope king of Israel."
But then our ancestors made God mad, so He let Nebuchadnezzar, the Babylon king, wreck the house and take the people to Babylon.
But in Cyrus' first year, he was like, "Let’s build this house of God!"
And all the gold and silver stuff from God’s house that Nebuchadnezzar took, Cyrus brought back to Sheshbazzar, who he made governor.
Cyrus told him, "Take these items, go, and get them into the temple in Jerusalem, and let’s build God's house right."
Then Sheshbazzar came through and laid the foundation of God’s house in Jerusalem, and it's still being built, not done yet.
So if it’s all good with the king, let’s check the treasure house in Babylon to see if Cyrus really said to build this house of God in Jerusalem, and let the king hit us up about it.
