Gen Z: Ezekiel 29
In the tenth year, tenth month, and twelfth day, the Lord slid into my DMs, saying,
Yo, son of man, throw shade at Pharaoh, king of Egypt, and drop some prophecies on him and all of Egypt:
Say this: The Lord God is coming for you, Pharaoh, the big dragon chillin’ in the rivers, thinking, "This river is all mine, I made it."
But I'm about to put hooks in your jaws, and the fish are gonna stick to your scales, and I'm pulling you outta your rivers, no cap.
I'm leaving you out in the wild, you and all the fish: you gonna fall in the fields; ain’t nobody gathering you up, you’re dinner for the beasts and birds.
Everyone in Egypt will know I'm the Lord, 'cause they've been a weak link for Israel.
When they grabbed you, you broke and messed up their shoulders; when they leaned on you, you snapped and left them hanging.
So listen up, the Lord God says: I'm bringing a sword your way, gonna wipe out man and beast from you.
Egypt's land is gonna be a total wasteland, and they’ll know I’m the Lord: 'cause they said, "This river is mine, I made it."
So yeah, I’m against you and your rivers, and I’m making Egypt totally waste and desolate, from Syene to Ethiopia's border.
No humans or animals gonna step foot there, and it won’t be lived in for forty years.
I’ll make Egypt desolate among the desolate, and her cities will be wastelands for forty years: I’m scattering the Egyptians everywhere.
But the Lord God says: After forty years, I’ll gather the Egyptians from where they were spread out.
I’ll bring back the captives of Egypt, and they’ll return to Pathros, their home, and it’ll be a base kingdom.
It’ll be the lowest of kingdoms; it won’t rise above the nations anymore: I’m diminishing them so they can’t rule.
It won’t be the confidence of Israel anymore, reminding them of their sins when they look at it: they’ll know I’m the Lord God.
And in the twenty-seventh year, first month, first day, the Lord slid into my DMs again, saying,
Yo, son of man, Nebuchadrezzar, king of Babylon, made his army do some major work against Tyrus: heads were shaved, shoulders were raw, but he didn’t get paid for it.
So the Lord God says: I’m giving Egypt to Nebuchadrezzar, and he’s gonna take all her people and riches as payment for his army.
I gave him Egypt for his grind against it, 'cause they were working for me, says the Lord God.
On that day, I’ll make Israel’s horn pop off, and I’ll give you the mouthpiece among them; they’ll know I’m the Lord.
