Gen Z: Exodus 33
And the Lord said to Moses, “Dip, and bounce with the crew you brought up from Egypt, to the land I promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying, ‘I got you and your fam.’”
“I’m sending an angel ahead of you; I’ll kick out the Canaanite, Amorite, Hittite, Perizzite, Hivite, and Jebusite, no cap.”
“To a land flowing with milk and honey: I’m not rolling with you though, 'cause you’re kinda stiff-necked; I might just wipe you out on the way.”
When the people heard this bad news, they were shook and didn’t even rock their bling.
The Lord told Moses, “Tell the Israelites, you’re a stiff-necked bunch: I’ll pop up in your midst and might consume you, so take off your bling so I know what’s up.”
The Israelites stripped off their bling by Mount Horeb.
Moses set up the tabernacle outside the camp, far away, and called it the Tabernacle of the congregation. Everyone who wanted to vibe with the Lord went to the tabernacle.
When Moses went out to the tabernacle, all the people stood at their tent doors, watching him until he went inside.
As Moses entered the tabernacle, the cloudy pillar came down and stood at the door, and the Lord was chatting with Moses.
Everyone saw the cloudy pillar chill at the tabernacle door, and they all worshipped, each at their tent door.
The Lord spoke to Moses face to face, like homies do. Then Moses went back to the camp, but his boy Joshua, son of Nun, stayed in the tabernacle.
Moses said to the Lord, “You said to bring up this people, but you haven’t told me who you’re sending with me. Yet you said you know me by name and I’ve found grace in your sight.”
“So, if I’ve found grace in your sight, show me your way so I can know you and find grace in your sight: and remember, this nation is your peeps.”
He said, “My presence will roll with you, and I’ll give you rest.”
He said, “If your presence isn’t going with us, then don’t even take us up from here.”
“How will anyone know that I and your people have found grace in your sight? Isn’t it that you go with us? That’s what separates us from everyone else on this earth.”
The Lord told Moses, “I’ll do what you asked, 'cause you’ve found grace in my sight, and I know you by name.”
Moses said, “Please, show me your glory.”
He said, “I’ll make all my goodness pass before you, and I’ll shout my name before you; I’ll be gracious to who I wanna be gracious to and show mercy to who I wanna show mercy.”
He said, “You can’t see my face, 'cause no one can see me and live.”
The Lord said, “Look, there’s a spot by me; you’ll stand on a rock.”
“When my glory passes by, I’ll put you in a rock crevice and cover you with my hand while I pass by.”
“Then I’ll take away my hand, and you’ll see my back, but my face? Nah, you can’t see that.”
