Gen Z: Exodus 1
Yo, these are the names of the fam of Israel who rolled up into Egypt; every dude and his crew came with Jacob.
Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah, straight up.
Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin, no cap.
Dan, Naphtali, Gad, and Asher, all in.
Jacob's whole squad was seventy souls deep; Joseph was already in Egypt, vibin’.
Then Joseph dipped, and all his bros did too, like that whole generation was gone.
The children of Israel were thriving, popping off, and getting super strong; the land was lit with them.
But then a new king over Egypt popped up, and he didn’t even know Joseph.
He’s like, "Yo, the Israelites are way more lit and strong than us!"
So he’s like, “Bet, let’s be smart about this; if they keep growing, they might team up with our enemies in a war and bounce.”
So they set some taskmasters over them to make life hard. They built treasure cities for Pharaoh, Pithom and Raamses, fr.
But the more they tried to bring them down, the more the Israelites multiplied and grew; it was savage.
The Egyptians made the Israelites work hard, no cap.
They made their lives bitter with brutal work, like brick and mortar, and everything in the fields was rough.
Then the king of Egypt hit up the Hebrew midwives, one named Shiphrah and the other Puah.
He told them, “When you’re midwifing the Hebrew ladies, if it’s a boy, you gotta kill him; but if it’s a girl, she gets to live.”
But the midwives feared God and didn’t do what the king said; they kept the boys alive.
The king called them in and was like, “Why y’all doing this? Why are the boys still alive?”
The midwives said to Pharaoh, “The Hebrew ladies are wild; they give birth before we even show up!”
So God blessed the midwives, and the people just kept multiplying and getting strong, periodt.
And because the midwives feared God, He gave them families.
Pharaoh told all his people, “Every boy born, toss him in the river; but save the girls.”
