Gen Z: Esther 3
After all that, King Ahasuerus boosted Haman, the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and gave him a VIP spot above all the other princes. Major flex.
All the king’s crew at the gate bowed down to Haman, 'cause the king said so. But Mordecai was like, “Nah, I’m good.”
So the king’s squad at the gate asked Mordecai, "Why you gotta break the king’s rules, fam?"
They kept asking him daily, but he wasn’t vibing with it, so they told Haman to see if Mordecai was gonna fold, since he said he was a Jew.
When Haman peeped that Mordecai wasn’t bowing, he got super mad, no cap.
He was like, “I’m not just gonna go after Mordecai; I gotta take out all the Jews in the kingdom since he’s one of them.” Savage move.
In the first month, aka Nisan, in the twelfth year of King Ahasuerus, they rolled the dice daily to see what to do about Mordecai, all the way to the twelfth month, Adar.
Haman told King Ahasuerus, “There’s this group of people spread out across your kingdom, and they don’t follow your laws. It’s sus for you to let them chill.”
If it’s cool with the king, let’s write a decree to wipe them out, and I’ll drop ten thousand talents of silver to the squad handling it for the king’s treasury.
The king took off his ring and gave it to Haman, the Agagite, who was all about that anti-Jew life.
The king told Haman, “Here’s the silver, and you can do whatever you want with those people.”
The king’s scribes were called on the thirteenth day of the first month, and they wrote everything Haman wanted for the king’s officials and governors in all the provinces, in their languages, sealed with the king’s ring.
The letters went out to all the king’s provinces, telling them to destroy and wipe out all Jews, young and old, in one day on the thirteenth of the twelfth month, Adar, and take their stuff.
The command was announced in every province, letting everyone know to be ready for that day.
The posts were sent out fast, following the king’s orders, and the decree was issued in Shushan. The king and Haman were chilling, but the city was shook.
