Gen Z: 2 Chronicles 23
So in the seventh year, Jehoiada leveled up and got the squad together: Azariah, Ishmael, Obed, Maaseiah, and Elishaphat. Major rizz move, for real.
They rolled through Judah, scooping up the Levites and the fam from all over, and headed to Jerusalem. Vibes were high.
The whole crew made a pact with the king at God’s crib. He was like, “Yo, the king’s son is taking the throne, just like the Lord said about David’s fam.”
Here’s the deal: one-third of you priests and Levites gotta be door guards on Sabbath. No cap, keep it tight.
Another third’s chilling at the king’s pad, and the last third’s at the foundation gate. Everyone else just vibe in the Lord’s courts.
But only the priests and Levites get to step into the Lord’s house; they’re holy. Everyone else just gotta keep watch, periodt.
The Levites surrounded the king, each with their gear ready. Anyone else trying to roll in gets taken out, for real. Stay with the king when he comes and goes.
So the Levites and Judah followed Jehoiada’s orders, bringing in their crew for Sabbath and making sure no one was left behind.
Jehoiada hooked up the captains with some dope gear: spears, shields, and bucklers from King David’s stash at God’s house.
He lined up the whole squad, everyone armed, from the right to the left side of the temple, by the altar and around the king. Lit setup.
Then they brought out the king’s son, crowned him, and gave him the testimony. Jehoiada and his sons anointed him, saying, “God save the king!”
When Athaliah heard the hype from the crowd praising the king, she pulled up to see what was popping at the Lord’s house.
She looked and saw the king at his spot, with the princes and trumpets around him. The whole land was lit with joy and music. Athaliah ripped her clothes and yelled, “Treason!”
Jehoiada brought out the captains in charge and told them to get her out; anyone who follows her gets taken out too. No slaying in the Lord’s house, though.
They grabbed her, and when they got to the horse gate by the king’s house, they took her out right there.
Jehoiada made a pact with all the people and the king, saying they’d be the Lord’s crew.
Then everyone went to Baal’s house, smashed it up, broke his altars, and took out Mattan, the Baal priest, right in front of the altars.
Jehoiada set up the Lord’s house roles through the priests and Levites, just like David laid down, with offerings and good vibes.
He put the gatekeepers at the Lord’s house, making sure no one unclean could roll in.
He brought the captains, nobles, and all the people down from the Lord’s house, through the high gate to the king’s house, and set him on the throne.
Everyone in the land was hyped, and the city chilled out after they took out Athaliah.
