Gen Z: 1 Samuel 7
The squad from Kirjath–jearim rolled up, grabbed the ark of the Lord, and brought it to Abinadab's crib on the hill, and they set up Eleazar, his son, to vibe with the ark.
So, while the ark was chillin' in Kirjath–jearim for like twenty years, the whole house of Israel was lowkey sad, missing the Lord.
Samuel was like, "Yo, Israel, if you’re gonna come back to the Lord with all your hearts, ditch those sus gods and Ashtaroth, and get your hearts right for the Lord, only then He'll save you from the Philistines."
The Israelites were like, "Bet," and they ditched Baalim and Ashtaroth, serving only the Lord.
Samuel said, "Gather all of Israel at Mizpeh, and I’ll pray to the Lord for you."
They all pulled up to Mizpeh, grabbed some water, poured it out before the Lord, fasted that day, and confessed, "We’ve messed up against the Lord." Samuel was judging the Israelites there.
When the Philistines heard the Israelites were together at Mizpeh, their bosses were like, "Nah, we gotta fight," and when the Israelites caught wind, they were shook.
The Israelites hit up Samuel, saying, "Don’t stop praying to the Lord our God for us, so He can save us from the Philistines."
Samuel took a little lamb and offered it totally to the Lord as a burnt offering, and he prayed hard for Israel; the Lord was like, "I got you."
While Samuel was doing the burnt offering, the Philistines rolled up to fight Israel, but the Lord was like, "Boom!" with some epic thunder, and the Philistines were totally wrecked before Israel.
The Israelites bounced out of Mizpeh and chased the Philistines down, clapping back until they got to Beth–car.
Then Samuel grabbed a stone, set it between Mizpeh and Shen, and named it Eben–ezer, saying, "The Lord helped us this far."
The Philistines were totally taken down, and they didn’t mess with Israel anymore; the Lord was against them all the days of Samuel.
The cities the Philistines took from Israel were given back, from Ekron to Gath; Israel snatched back their land from the Philistines, and there was peace with the Amorites.
Samuel was the judge of Israel all his life, no cap.
He was out here year after year, hitting up Beth–el, Gilgal, and Mizpeh, judging Israel in all those spots.
His home base was Ramah, where he judged Israel and built an altar for the Lord.
