Gen Z: 1 Kings 15
In the 18th year of King Jeroboam, Abijam was vibing as king over Judah.
He ruled for three years in Jerusalem, and his mom was Maachah, the daughter of Abishalom.
He was totally walking in all the sins of his dad, and his heart wasn’t on point with the Lord, unlike King David.
But for David’s sake, God kept a light in Jerusalem for him, setting up his son to reign and keeping the city lit.
David was doing what was right in the Lord’s eyes, never straying from His commands, except for that whole Uriah situation, no cap.
There was beef between Rehoboam and Jeroboam for the whole time they were alive.
All the other stuff Abijam did? It’s in the chronicles of Judah’s kings, and he had that ongoing war with Jeroboam.
Abijam passed away and was buried with his fam in the city of David; then his son Asa popped off as king.
In the 20th year of Jeroboam, Asa took over Judah as king.
He ruled for 41 years in Jerusalem, and his mom was Maachah, daughter of Abishalom.
Asa was out here doing what’s right in God’s eyes, just like his dad David. Vibes.
He kicked the sodomites outta the land and ditched all the idols his fam made. No cap.
Even his mom Maachah got the boot from being queen 'cause she made an idol in a grove; Asa smashed it and burned it by the brook Kidron. Savage.
The high places were still chillin', but Asa’s heart was lit with the Lord all his days.
He brought in all the stuff his dad dedicated and what he dedicated too—silver, gold, and vessels—into the Lord’s house. Bussin’.
There was beef between Asa and Baasha, king of Israel, like, forever.
Baasha rolled up on Judah and built Ramah to block anyone from rolling in or out to Asa, king of Judah. Sus.
Asa took all the silver and gold left in the Lord’s house and the king’s crib, gave it to his boys, and sent it to Ben-hadad, king of Syria, saying,
“We’re tight, me and you, and my dad and your dad too. I’m sending you a gift of silver and gold; come break your deal with Baasha so he can bounce.”
Ben-hadad listened to king Asa and sent his captains to the cities of Israel, and they wrecked Ijon, Dan, Abel-beth-maachah, and all Cinneroth, plus the whole land of Naphtali. Goated.
So, Baasha heard the tea and dipped on building Ramah, chillin' in Tirzah instead.
King Asa went full boss mode and announced to all Judah: no one was off the hook. They snatched the stones and wood from Ramah that Baasha used, and Asa built up Geba and Mizpah with that.
All the epic stuff Asa did, his strength, and the cities he built? Yeah, that’s all in the chronicles of Judah kings. But no cap, he had some foot problems in his old age.
Asa kicked the bucket and was laid to rest with his fam in David's city. Jehoshaphat, his son, popped off as king after him.
Nadab, Jeroboam's kid, took over Israel in Asa's second year as king and ruled for two years.
He was sus in the Lord's eyes, following in his dad's footsteps and leading Israel into sin.
Baasha, Ahijah's son from Issachar, plotted against him and took him out at Gibbethon, where the Philistines were chillin'; Nadab and all of Israel were laying siege there.
In Asa's third year, Baasha took him down and became king himself.
When he took the throne, he wiped out all of Jeroboam's fam, leaving no survivors, just like the Lord said through Ahijah the Shilonite.
All this happened because of Jeroboam's sins that got Israel in trouble, making the Lord super angry.
So like, all the stuff Nadab did, you can peep it in the chronicles of the kings of Israel, no cap?
Asa and Baasha, the king of Israel, were beefing the whole time, fr.
In year three of Asa's reign, Baasha, son of Ahijah, popped off and ruled all Israel from Tirzah for 24 years.
He was sus in God's eyes, following Jeroboam's bad vibes, making Israel trip up too.
