1 Corinthians 14

Gen Z: 1 Corinthians 14

1Follow the vibes of love, and chase those spiritual gifts, but for real, prophesy is where it’s at.

2When you’re speaking in a language nobody gets, you’re not chatting with people, just God: no cap, it’s all mysteries in the spirit.

3But when you prophesy, you’re dropping wisdom for the squad, giving them hype and comfort.

4Speaking in a language nobody knows is a self-boost, but prophesying? That’s how you build up the whole crew.

5I wish everyone was out here speaking in tongues, but honestly, prophesying is way more goated: it’s a bigger deal unless you can break it down so the church can vibe with it.

6Yo, fam, if I roll up speaking in tongues, what’s the point unless I’m dropping knowledge or prophesying?

7Even lifeless things making noise, like pipes or harps, gotta have their own unique sound; otherwise, how do we even know what’s playing?

8If the trumpet’s making a confusing sound, who’s ready to throw down in battle?

9Same goes for you; if you’re not dropping easy-to-understand words, how’s anyone gonna know what’s being said? You’ll just be talking to the air.

10There’s a whole bunch of different voices in the world, and none of them are just random; they all mean something.

11So if I can't vibe with the voice, I'm just gonna sound like a total noob, and the speaker's gonna think I'm sus too.

12Y'all are super hyped about spiritual gifts, so just pop off and build up the church, fr.

13So, if you're speaking in a tongue no one gets, just pray for the rizz to interpret it.

14If I pray in a tongue I don’t get, my spirit's lit but my brain's like, "Nah, this ain't it."

15So what’s the deal? I’ll pray with my spirit and I’ll also keep it real with my understanding; I’ll sing with both, no cap.

16If you bless with your spirit, how's the clueless homie gonna say Amen when they have no clue what you're saying?

17For real, you give thanks like a champ, but the others ain't getting the vibes.

18I thank my God, I’m out here speaking in tongues more than all y’all combined, periodt.

19But in the church, I’d rather drop five words that make sense than ten thousand in a tongue nobody gets, fr.

20Fam, don’t be kids when it comes to understanding: be savage in malice but grown in understanding.

21The law's got it on lock: I'm gonna vibe with this crew in different languages, but no cap, they still won't hear me, says the Lord.

22So, tongues are like a sign, not for the believers but for the skeptics; but prophesying is for the believers, for real.

23If the whole squad rolls up together and everyone’s speaking in tongues, and some clueless peeps come in, they gonna think y’all are wildin’.

24But if everyone’s prophesying, and a non-believer or a newbie walks in, they’ll get shook and realize what’s up.

25That’s when the secrets of their heart pop off; they’ll hit the floor, worship God, and know for sure that God’s in the mix.

26So, fam, when you gather, everyone’s got a psalm, a teaching, a tongue, a revelation, or an interpretation. Let’s keep it lit and build each other up.

27If someone’s speaking in a tongue no one knows, let it be two or three at most, and they gotta take turns; and someone’s gotta interpret.

28But if there’s no interpreter, just chill in the church; talk to yourself and God instead.

29Let the prophets share two or three, and let the others judge what's being said.

30If something’s revealed to someone else sitting there, the first one needs to keep it low-key.

31Everyone can share their vibes one at a time so we all learn and feel comforted, fr.

32The prophets' spirits gotta chill with the prophets, no cap.

33God ain't about that confusion life; He’s all about peace, like in all the church fams.

34Ladies gotta keep it low-key in church, 'cause they’re not allowed to speak; they gotta stay obedient, periodt.

35If they wanna learn something, they should just ask their husbands at home; it’s sus for women to chat in church.

36Wait, did God’s word only drop from you guys, or is it just for you?

37If anyone thinks they’re a prophet or spiritual, they better recognize that what I’m saying are God’s rules.

38But if someone’s clueless, let them stay clueless.

39So, fam, go for prophesying and don’t stop the tongues from popping off.

40Keep everything on point and in order, that’s the vibe.

KJV: 1 Corinthians 14

1Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.

2For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.

3But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.

4He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.

5I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.

6Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine?

7And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped?

8For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?

9So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air.

10There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification.

11Therefore if I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be unto him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh shall be a barbarian unto me.

12Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.

13Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret.

14For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.

15What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.

16Else when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest?

17For thou verily givest thanks well, but the other is not edified.

18I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:

19Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.

20Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men.

21In the law it is written, With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord.

22Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe.

23If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad?

24But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all:

25And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.

26How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.

27If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.

28But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.

29Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.

30If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace.

31For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.

32And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.

33For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

34Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.

35And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

36What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only?

37If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.

38But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant.

39Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.

40Let all things be done decently and in order.
