Gen Z: Zechariah 1
In the eighth month of Darius's second year, God hit up Zechariah, Berechiah's kid, with a message, no cap.
God’s been super upset with your fam, for real.
So tell them, “Yo, the Lord of hosts says: Turn back to me, and I’ll turn back to you, fr.”
Don’t be like your dads, the ones the old prophets called out, saying, “Turn from your sus ways!” But they just ignored it, periodt.
Your dads, where they at? And the prophets, do they live forever?
But my words and rules that I dropped on my prophets—didn’t your dads vibe with that? They came back and said, "God's been real with us, just like our actions deserve."
On the 24th day of the 11th month, Sebat, in Darius's second year, God hit up Zechariah again.
I peeped at night and saw a dude on a red horse chilling among myrtle trees, and behind him were some red, speckled, and white horses.
I was like, “Yo, what’s up with these?” And the angel talking to me said, “I’ll spill the tea on what they are.”
The dude among the myrtle trees said, “These are the ones God sent to cruise around the earth.”
They told the angel standing there, “We’ve been cruising all over the earth, and guess what? Everything’s chill and at rest.”
Then the angel of the Lord was like, “Yo, Lord of hosts, how long until you show Jerusalem and Judah some mercy? You’ve been mad for 70 years, no cap.”
And the Lord hit back with good and comforting words to the angel talking to me.
So the angel said, “Shout this: The Lord of hosts is jealous for Jerusalem and Zion, like, majorly.”
And I’m super upset with the chill nations because I was only a bit upset, and they made it worse, fr.
So here’s the deal from the Lord: I’m back in Jerusalem with mercy, my house is getting built there, and a line’s gonna be stretched over it.
Shout this too: The Lord of hosts says, “My cities will thrive and spread out, and I’ll comfort Zion and choose Jerusalem again.”
Then I looked up and saw four horns.
I asked the angel, “What are these?” And he said, “These are the horns that scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.”
And the Lord showed me four carpenters.
I asked, “What’s their deal?” And he said, “These are the carpenters that’ll take down the horns that scattered Judah, so no one could hold their head high. They’re here to throw down the horns of those nations that were flexing over Judah.”
