Gen Z: Psalms 59
Yo, God, save me from my haters and defend me from the ones coming at me.
Get me away from the shady peeps and keep me safe from the savage ones.
For real, they’re out here waiting to catch me; the strong ones are coming for me, not because I messed up, Lord.
They’re out here gearing up for no reason: wake up and help me, and peep this.
So, Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, wake up and check on all these non-believers: don’t go easy on the wicked ones. Selah.
They roll back at night: barking like dogs, circling the city.
Check it, they’re spitting out threats: swords on their lips; they’re like, “Who even hears us?”
But you, Lord, are gonna laugh at them; you’ll have all the non-believers in stitches.
I’m waiting on you because God is my shield, no cap.
The God of my mercy is gonna show up for me: God’s gonna let me see my wins over my enemies.
Don’t take them out, or my crew will forget; scatter them with your power and bring them down, Lord, our protector.
For the words they spit and their pride, let them be caught up in their own drama: for the cursing and lying they throw around.
Wreck them in your wrath, wreck them, so they don’t exist anymore; let them know God’s in charge in Jacob to the ends of the earth. Selah.
And at night, let them come back; let them bark like dogs and circle the city.
Let them roam around for food and be salty if they don’t get fed.
But I’m gonna vibe with your power; yeah, I’ll sing loud about your mercy in the morning: you’ve been my defense and safe place in my struggles.
To you, my strength, I’ll sing: God is my defense, and the God of my mercy.
