Gen Z: Psalms 55
Yo, God, listen up to my prayer and don’t ghost me when I’m asking for help.
Show up and hear me out: I’m lowkey bummed and making noise over here;
It’s ‘cause of the enemy’s vibes and the wickedness that’s coming at me, throwing shade and hatin’ hard.
My heart’s feeling heavy, fam; death’s got me shook.
I’m straight-up scared and trembling, like horror is just taking over me.
I wish I had wings like a dove so I could just dip and chill.
For real, I’d vibe far away and just hang in the wilderness. Selah.
I’d be outta here quick from this wild storm and chaos.
God, just wreck them and mix up their words; I’ve seen way too much drama in the city.
Day and night, they’re just lurking around the walls, bringing all this bad energy and sadness.
Wickedness is all up in there: deceit and shady moves never leave the streets.
It wasn’t just some random hater coming at me; I could’ve handled that. It was someone close, though, and that hit different.
But it was you, my equal, my homie, and my ride-or-die.
We used to vibe together and roll to God’s house as a squad.
Let death snatch them up, and let them drop quick into the pit; wickedness is their home base.
But me? I’m calling on God; He’s got my back.
Evening, morning, and noon, I’ll pray and shout out loud; He’s gonna hear my voice.
He saved my soul in peace from the battles coming at me; I had a whole crew with me.
God’s gonna hear and handle them, the OG who’s been around forever. Selah. They don’t change, so they don’t fear God.
He’s gone against those chilling with him; he broke his promises.
His words were smoother than butter, but he had war in his heart; his words were soft like oil, but they were like hidden swords.
Drop your worries on God, and He’ll hold you up; He won’t let the righteous fall.
But you, God, will bring them down to the pit of destruction; bloody and deceitful peeps won’t even make it halfway through life; but I’m trusting in you.
