Gen Z: Psalms 40
I waited patiently for the Lord; and he was like, "I got you," and heard my cry.
He pulled me outta a rough spot, set my feet on solid ground, and helped me vibe right.
He dropped a new song in my mouth, all praise to our God: many will see it and be shook, and trust in the Lord.
Blessed is the dude who trusts the Lord and doesn’t mess with the proud or those who spread lies.
Yo, Lord my God, your works are straight-up amazing, and your thoughts towards us are wild: can’t even count them all!
You weren’t about that sacrifice life; you opened my ears: burnt offerings and sin offerings ain’t your vibe.
Then I said, "Yo, I'm here!" It’s written about me in the book.
I’m all about doing your will, O my God: your law is in my heart, for real.
I’ve been preaching righteousness to the squad: I didn’t hold back my words, O Lord, you know that.
I didn’t hide your righteousness in my heart; I’ve been shouting your faithfulness and salvation: no cap, I’ve been real about your kindness and truth.
Don’t hold back your mercy from me, O Lord: keep your kindness and truth on deck for me.
I’m surrounded by all these bad vibes: my sins are weighing me down, can’t even look up; they’re more than the hairs on my head: my heart’s feeling heavy.
Please, O Lord, come through and save me: O Lord, hurry up and help me.
Let those who wanna take me down be ashamed together; let them be sent packing and embarrassed for wishing me harm.
Let them be left out for their shame when they say, "Gotcha!"
Let all who seek you vibe and be happy in you: let those who love your salvation keep saying, "The Lord is lit."
But I’m broke and in need; still, the Lord’s got me on his mind: you’re my help and my savior; don’t take your time, O my God.
