Gen Z: Nahum 2
The one who’s smashing everything is right in your face: keep your gear ready, watch your back, get your strength up, and flex hard.
The Lord’s pulled the hype from Jacob and Israel: the emptiers have totally drained them, and messed up their vibes.
The shields of his strong squad are all red, and the brave ones are rocking scarlet: the chariots are lit with flames on the day they prep, and the trees are shook.
The chariots are going wild in the streets, bumping into each other on the main roads: they look like fireballs, zooming like lightning.
He’s gonna shout out his crew: they’ll trip on their way; they’ll rush to the wall, and the defense is gonna be ready.
The river gates are gonna swing wide, and the palace is gonna fall apart.
Huzzab’s gonna be taken away, she’ll be led like a dove, with her girls following, all soft and gentle.
But Nineveh’s been chill like a water pool: still, they’ll dip out. They’ll yell “stand firm,” but nobody’s looking back.
Snag the silver, grab the gold: there’s no end to the stash and the glory from all that nice stuff.
She’s empty, void, and wrecked: hearts are melting, knees are knocking, and there’s pain all around, and everyone’s face is looking dark.
Where’s the crib for the lions, and where the cubs chill, where the big lion and his young ones walked, and nobody was scared?
The lion tore enough for his cubs, and fed his lionesses, filling up his spots with prey, and his dens with snacks.
Yo, I’m coming for you, says the Lord of hosts, and I’m gonna torch your chariots in smoke, and the sword’s gonna take out your young lions: I’ll snatch your prey from the earth, and your messengers won’t be heard anymore.
