Gen Z: Judges 10
After Abimelech, Tola popped up to defend Israel, son of Puah and Dodo, reppin' Issachar; he chilled in Shamir on Mount Ephraim.
He judged Israel for 23 years, then passed away and got buried in Shamir.
Next up was Jair, a Gileadite, who judged Israel for 22 years.
He had 30 sons riding 30 donkeys, and they ran 30 cities called Havoth-jair, still vibin' in Gilead today.
Jair died and got buried in Camon.
The Israelites went sus again, serving Baalim, Ashtaroth, and all those other gods from Syria, Zidon, Moab, Ammon, and the Philistines, totally ditching the Lord.
The Lord was mad hot at Israel and handed them over to the Philistines and the Ammonites.
That year, they straight-up oppressed Israel for 18 years, all the peeps on the other side of Jordan in Amorite land, which is in Gilead.
Plus, the Ammonites crossed over Jordan to beef with Judah, Benjamin, and Ephraim, leaving Israel in a major struggle.
The Israelites cried out to the Lord, saying, "We messed up, we ditched you and served Baalim."
The Lord was like, "Didn’t I save you from the Egyptians, Amorites, Ammonites, and Philistines?"
The Zidonians, Amalekites, and Maonites also oppressed you; you cried and I saved you from them.
Yet you’ve ghosted me and served other gods, so I’m not saving you anymore.
Go cry to the gods you picked; let them save you when times get tough.
The Israelites told the Lord, "We’ve sinned; do whatever you think is good, just save us today, please."
They ditched the strange gods and served the Lord, and His soul felt for the misery of Israel.
The Ammonites gathered in Gilead, while the Israelites assembled in Mizpeh.
The people and leaders of Gilead were like, "Who’s gonna step up and fight the Ammonites? That dude will be the boss of Gilead."
