Gen Z: Joel 1
Yo, this is the word from the Lord that dropped on Joel, son of Pethuel.
Listen up, old heads, and all y’all living here. Has this ever happened in your time or your fam’s time?
Tell your kids about it, and then let them spill the tea to their kids, and so on.
What the palmerworm left? The locusts came in and snatched it; then the cankerworm took its turn, and the caterpillar finished it off.
Wake up, you drunks, and start crying; all you wine lovers, it’s a sad day 'cause the new wine is gone.
A whole nation rolled up on my land, super strong and endless, with teeth like a lion—no cap.
They wrecked my vine and stripped my fig tree bare; they left it looking all sad and white.
Cry like a bride in a rough spot 'cause her groom is gone.
The offerings are cut off from the Lord's crib; the priests are out here mourning.
The field’s a total wreck, the land’s feeling it; the corn’s gone, the new wine dried up, and the oil’s struggling.
Shame on you farmers; howl, you vine workers, 'cause the wheat and barley are toast—harvest is a no-show.
The vine’s dried out, the fig tree’s looking rough; the pomegranate, palm, and apple trees are all withered—joy is just gone from the people.
Get your act together and lament, priests; howl, altar workers; come chill in sackcloth all night, my God’s ministers—offerings are being held back from your God’s house.
Set up a fast, call everyone together, get the elders and all the homies to the Lord's house, and cry out to Him.
Oof, the day is coming! The day of the Lord is near, and it’s gonna be a wild destruction from the Almighty.
Isn’t the food cut off right in front of us? Joy and gladness are missing from our God’s house.
The seeds are rotting under the dirt; the storage places are empty, the barns are falling apart—corn’s all dried up.
The animals are groaning! The cattle are confused 'cause there’s no grass; even the sheep are left with nothing.
Lord, I’m calling out to you; the fire’s devoured the wilderness pastures, and the flames burned down all the trees.
The wild animals are crying to you too; the rivers are dried up, and the fire’s wrecked the wilderness pastures.
