Gen Z: Jeremiah 9
Man, I wish my head was like a waterfall, and my eyes were a whole vibe of tears, just weeping day and night for my peeps who got taken out!
Yo, if only I had a chill spot in the wild where travelers crash; I’d dip from my crew 'cause they’re all sus, a bunch of shady peeps.
They flex their tongues like bows for lies, but they ain't brave enough to keep it real; they just keep sliding from bad to worse, not even knowing me, says the Lord.
Watch out for your neighbors, fam, and don’t trust any bro; every brother's out here trying to backstab, and neighbors just spreadin' gossip.
They be tricking each other and can’t keep it 100; they’ve trained their mouths to spit lies and are just tired from doing wrong.
Your home’s all about deceit; they straight-up ignore me, says the Lord.
So the Lord of hosts is like, "Bet, I’m gonna melt them down and test them; what am I supposed to do for my peeps?"
Their words are like arrows, just shooting out lies; they act all chill with their neighbors but are low-key plotting in their hearts.
Am I not gonna check them for this stuff? says the Lord; is my soul not gonna serve some justice on a nation like this?
I’m gonna take up the mountains with tears and crying, and for the wild places, a whole lament, 'cause they’re burned up, no one can roll through; even the animals are ghosting, they’ve dipped.
I'ma turn Jerusalem into a whole mess, like a dragon's lair; Judah's cities gonna be ghost towns, no cap.
Who's the wise one that can vibe with this? Who’s the one God’s talkin' to, so they can spill the tea on why the land's all burnt out and empty?
The Lord's like, "They ditched my laws I laid out, didn’t listen to my voice, and straight up ignored the path."
Instead, they followed their own wild thoughts and the Baal vibes their fam taught them.
So, the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, says, "I’m gonna feed them some bitter stuff and give them gall water to sip on."
I’ll scatter them among the nations, peeps they and their fam don’t even know, and I’m sending a sword after them until they’re done for.
The Lord of hosts says, "Yo, think about this, call the mourning queens to come through; send for the wise women to show up."
Let them hurry up and start wailing for us, so our eyes can overflow with tears, and our eyelids can drip like crazy.
A voice of crying is heard from Zion, "We’re totally wrecked! We’re super confused 'cause we ditched the land, and our homes kicked us out."
But listen up, ladies, hear the word of the Lord, let your ears catch what He’s saying, teach your daughters to wail, and everyone around to lament.
Death's creeping in through our windows, snatching kids from the crib and young dudes off the block. No cap.
God’s like, “Yo, all the homies who kick the bucket gonna drop like trash in the fields, and no one’s picking them up.”
The Lord's saying, “Don’t let the smart ones flex their brains, or the strong ones flex their muscles, or the rich ones flex their stacks.”
But for real, if you wanna flex, flex on knowing me, the Lord, who’s all about that love, justice, and righteousness. That’s what I vibe with, periodt.
Yo, the days are coming when I’m gonna serve up some consequences to all the peeps who are circumcised and the ones who aren’t.
Egypt, Judah, Edom, the Ammonites, Moab, and everyone chilling in the corners of the wilderness: all these nations are uncircumcised, and the whole house of Israel is uncircumcised in the heart.
