Gen Z: Jeremiah 5
Run around the streets of Jerusalem, check it out, and see if you can find anyone who’s actually real and seeking the truth; I’ll totally let it slide.
They’re out here saying, "The Lord’s alive," but we know that’s cap.
Yo Lord, aren’t you peeping the truth? You’ve hit them up, but they didn’t even flinch; you’ve taken them down, but they won’t listen: their faces are harder than stone; they won’t come back.
So I’m like, for real, these people are broke and dumb: they don’t even know how the Lord rolls or what’s right with their God.
I’m gonna hit up the big shots and chat with them; they know how the Lord operates and what’s right, but these other folks just broke free and ditched the rules.
So a lion from the forest is gonna take them out, and a wolf at night will mess them up; a leopard is gonna chill and watch their cities: anyone who steps out is gonna get wrecked, 'cause they’ve messed up big time and turned away.
How can I let this slide? Your kids have ditched me and sworn by fake gods: I fed them well, and they went and cheated, rolling deep in the houses of the side chicks.
They were like well-fed horses in the morning, all neighing after their neighbor’s wife.
Shouldn’t I check them for this? says the Lord: and shouldn’t my soul get revenge on a nation like this?
Climb up on her walls and wreck it, but don’t go all out: tear down her defenses; they’re not even the Lord’s.
The squads of Israel and Judah are totally sus with me, says the Lord.
They’re like, “Nah, it’s not God; no evil’s coming for us, no cap.”
The prophets are just blowing hot air, and the truth ain't in them: that’s how it’s gonna be.
So the Lord God of hosts is saying, "Since you’re talking like that, I’m about to make my words fire in your mouth, and this crew’s gonna be like wood, getting burned up."
Yo, I’m bringing a nation from way far away on you, house of Israel, says the Lord: it’s a savage nation, ancient and all, speaking a language you don’t even get.
Their quiver’s like an open grave, and they’re all straight-up warriors.
They’re gonna munch on your harvest and your bread that your kids should eat: they’ll take your flocks and herds, and they’ll wreck your cities where you thought you were safe, with the sword.
But for real, in those days, says the Lord, I won’t wipe you out completely.
When you’re like, “Why’s the Lord our God doing all this to us?” just know it’s because you ditched me and served other gods in your land, so you’ll end up serving strangers in a land that’s not yours.
Spill this tea in the house of Jacob and shout it in Judah, saying,
Yo, listen up, you foolish peeps with no clue; you got eyes but can’t see, ears but can’t hear, fr.
You scared of me or nah? says the Lord. You not shook by my presence? I set the sand as the boundary for the sea, and it can’t cross that line, no cap; even when the waves are wild, they can’t break through.
But this crew has a savage heart; they’ve flipped the script and bounced.
They don’t even say in their hearts, “Let’s fear the Lord who gives us rain in season,” like, he’s got us covered for the harvest, periodt.
Your wrongdoings have messed things up, and your sins are holding back good vibes from you.
Among my people, there are some sus dudes; they’re out here setting traps and catching people, no joke.
Just like a cage is packed with birds, their homes are full of lies; they’re getting rich and living large.
They’ve gotten all fat and shiny, like, they’re out here doing worse than the wicked; they don’t care about the fatherless, yet they’re thriving, and they ignore the rights of the needy.
Am I not gonna check for these things? says the Lord. Is my soul not gonna get back at a nation like this?
A wild and crazy thing is happening in the land;
The prophets be capping, and the priests flex their power; my people are totally vibing with it: so what’s the plan when it all hits the fan?
