Gen Z: Jeremiah 36
So, it was the fourth year of Jehoiakim, son of Josiah, king of Judah, and God slid into Jeremiah's DMs with a word, like, "Yo."
God said, "Grab a scroll and write down all the tea I spilled about Israel, Judah, and all the nations since Josiah's days, no cap."
Judah might catch the vibes of the bad stuff I’m planning to do; maybe they'll turn from their sus ways, and I’ll forgive their mess-ups, fr.
Jeremiah hit up Baruch, son of Neriah, and Baruch jotted down all the words from God that Jeremiah dropped, on a scroll, lit.
Jeremiah was like, "I’m locked up; can’t roll into the Lord’s house right now."
So, you gotta go read that scroll with God’s words to the people at the Lord's crib on fasting day; also share it with all of Judah coming from their spots.
Maybe they'll bring their requests to God and ditch their shady ways, 'cause the Lord’s mad vibes are serious against this crew.
Baruch, son of Neriah, did what Jeremiah told him and read the Lord's words in the Lord's house, periodt.
In the fifth year of Jehoiakim, son of Josiah, king of Judah, in the ninth month, they called a fast for everyone in Jerusalem and all the peeps from Judah's cities.
Then Baruch read Jeremiah's words in the Lord's house, in Gemariah's chamber, the scribe, in the higher court, by the new gate, for all the people to hear.
So Michaiah, son of Gemariah, heard all the Lord's words from the book, and it was a whole vibe.
He pulled up to the king's crib, went to the scribe's room, and all the big shots were chilling there, like Elishama the scribe and the crew.
Michaiah spilled all the tea on what he heard when Baruch read the book to the peeps.
The princes were like, "Yo, send Jehudi, son of Nethaniah, to Baruch. Tell him to bring that scroll he read to everyone." Baruch grabbed the roll and bounced over.
They told him, "Pull up and read it to us." So Baruch read it loud and clear.
Once they heard all the words, they were shook and said to Baruch, "We gotta tell the king about this, no cap."
They asked Baruch, "For real, how did you write all this down?"
Baruch was like, "He said all these words to me, and I just wrote them down with ink in the book."
The princes told Baruch, "Skrrt, go hide with Jeremiah, and keep it lowkey where you are."
They went to the king's court, but stashed the roll in Elishama's room and spilled all the words to the king.
So the king sent Jehudi to grab the scroll from Elishama's crib. Jehudi read it out loud for the king and all the homies chillin' with him.
The king was vibing in his winter pad in the ninth month, and there was a fire crackin' on the hearth, keeping it lit.
When Jehudi got to like three or four pages, he straight-up sliced it with a penknife and tossed it into the fire, until the whole scroll was toast.
But they weren't even shook, not the king or any of his crew who heard all this. No cap.
Still, Elnathan, Delaiah, and Gemariah were out here begging the king not to burn the scroll, but he just wasn’t having it.
The king told Jerahmeel, Seraiah, and Shelemiah to grab Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet, but the Lord was like, "Nah, we hiding."
Then the Lord hit up Jeremiah after the king burned the scroll and all the words Baruch wrote, saying,
"Get another scroll and write down all the previous words from the first one that Jehoiakim burned."
"Tell Jehoiakim, king of Judah, that the Lord says: You burned this scroll, asking why it said Babylon's coming to wreck this land and wipe out everyone and everything."
"So the Lord says about Jehoiakim, king of Judah: No one’s gonna sit on David's throne after you, and your body’s gonna be tossed out in the heat by day and the frost by night."
I'ma come for him, his fam, and his crew for all their sus moves; gonna hit up Jerusalem and the dudes in Judah with all the bad vibes I called out, but they just ignored it, no cap.
Then Jeremiah pulled another scroll and handed it to Baruch, the scribe dude, son of Neriah; he wrote down all the words from Jeremiah, including the ones that Jehoiakim, the king of Judah, straight-up burned: and they added even more fire words, periodt.
