Gen Z: Jeremiah 2
Yo, the Lord hit me up with a message, saying,
Go shout in Jerusalem's ear, saying, "The Lord's got memories of your youthful vibes and that love when you followed me in the wilderness, in a place with zero crops."
Israel was straight-up holy for the Lord, like first-class vibes: anyone who messes with them is sus; bad stuff's coming for them, periodt, says the Lord.
Listen up, house of Jacob and all the fams of Israel:
The Lord's asking, "What did your peeps find wrong with me that made them ghost me and chase after empty stuff, becoming all vain?"
They didn’t even ask, "Where's the Lord who brought us out of Egypt, led us through the wild, in a dry and shady place, where no one else rolled?"
I brought you into a dope land, to enjoy its fruits and goodness; but when you got there, you messed up my land and made my heritage look bad.
The priests weren’t asking, "Where's the Lord?" and those who dealt with the law didn’t know me; the pastors dissed me, and the prophets were vibing with Baal, chasing after things that don’t even slap.
So I’m still gonna plead with you, says the Lord, and I’ll also plead with your kids’ kids.
Go check out the islands of Chittim and see; send someone to Kedar, and really think about it, and see if this is a thing.
Like, has any nation switched up their gods, which aren’t even real? But my crew traded their glory for stuff that’s totally sus.
Yo, heavens, be shook by this and vibe check real hard, says the Lord.
My people are wildin’ with two major fails; they ditched me, the ultimate source of fresh vibes, and built broken wells that can’t hold a drop.
Is Israel just a servant? Like, is he a born slave? Why’s he getting wrecked?
The young lions came for him, roaring and causing chaos; his land got wrecked, and his cities are straight-up ghost towns.
The kids from Noph and Tahapanes totally messed up your crown, fam.
Did you not do this to yourself by ghosting the Lord your God when He was leading you?
So what’s your deal with Egypt, trying to sip the waters of Sihor? Or what’s up with Assyria, drinking from their river?
Your own wicked moves are gonna catch up to you, and your backsliding is gonna call you out: know that it’s straight-up savage and bitter to ditch the Lord your God, and that my fear ain’t in you, says the Lord God of hosts.
For ages, I’ve broken your chains and set you free; and you were like, “I’m not gonna mess up,” but you kept wandering on every hill and under every tree, acting all sus.
I planted you as a dope vine, pure vibes only: how’d you turn into a sus plant from a random vine?
Even if you scrub with soap and bleach, your bad vibes are still on my radar, says the Lord God, no cap.
How can you say you’re not sus, that you haven’t chased after idols? Look at your path in the valley, know your moves: you’re like a quick camel just vibing.
A wild donkey chillin' in the wilderness, catching wind whenever she wants; who can change her mind? Those who seek her won’t get tired; in her month, they’ll find her for sure.
Keep your shoes on and don’t be thirsty: but you be like, “No hope here; I’m into strangers, and I’m gonna chase them.”
Just like a thief feels awkward when caught, Israel feels that shame; their kings, princes, priests, and prophets too.
Saying to a piece of wood, "You’re my dad," and to a rock, "You made me": they turned their back on me, not their face; but when trouble hits, they’ll be like, “Help us out!”
But where are the gods you made? Let them help you when trouble comes: you’ve got as many gods as cities, Judah.
Why are you trying to argue with me? You’ve all messed up against me, says the Lord.
I’ve tried to correct your kids, but it’s been pointless; your own sword has taken out your prophets, like a lion on the hunt.
Yo, fam, peep the word of the Lord. Have I been a whole desert to Israel? A dark vibe? Why my peeps say, "We’re the bosses; we ain’t coming back to you?"
Can a girl forget her drip, or a bride her fit? Yet my people be forgetting me for days on end, no cap.
Why you switching up your style to find love? You just taught the sus ones your ways.
Also, in your skirts is the blood of the innocent souls: I didn’t find it sneaky-like, but it’s all over the place.
But you’re like, "I’m innocent, his anger won’t hit me." Hold up, I’m gonna call you out, 'cause you say you ain't sinned.
Why you tripping so hard to change your ways? You gonna be shook about Egypt, just like you were about Assyria.
For real, you gonna bounce from him, hands on your head: the Lord’s done with your trust issues, and you ain’t gonna win with them.
