Gen Z: Jeremiah 18
Yo, the word hit Jeremiah from the Lord, like, "What’s good?"
Get up and slide to the potter’s crib, I’m about to drop some knowledge on you there.
So, I pulled up to the potter’s spot, and he was vibing, working the wheels.
The clay piece he was making got messed up in his hands, so he just whipped up another one, whatever looked good to him.
Then the Lord spoke to me, saying,
"Yo, house of Israel, can’t I do with you what this potter does? Just like the clay is in his hands, you’re in mine, fam."
Whenever I decide to speak about a nation or a kingdom, to tear it down or destroy it;
If that nation I called out turns from their bad vibes, I’ll chill on the plans I had for them.
And whenever I decide to speak about a nation or a kingdom, to build it up or plant it;
If it goes rogue in my eyes and doesn’t listen to me, then I’ll change my mind about the good I wanted to do for them.
So, go tell the dudes in Judah and the folks in Jerusalem, "The Lord says this: I’m plotting some stuff against you, so turn from your bad ways and make your lives better."
But they were like, "Nah, there’s no hope; we’re just gonna do our own thing and follow our evil hearts."
So the Lord said, "Check it, ask the nations who’s heard such wild stuff: Israel’s virgin has done something super sus."
Will a dude ditch the snow from Lebanon that drops from the rocks? Or abandon the cool waters from somewhere else?
My people forgot about me, burning incense to nothing, making them trip off the old paths to walk in shady ways;
They’re making their land a wasteland, and it’s gonna be a constant vibe check; everyone passing by will be shook and shake their heads.
I’ll scatter them like leaves in the wind before their enemies; I’ll show them my back, not my face, when their bad times hit.
Then they were like, "Let’s come up with a plan against Jeremiah; the law won’t drop from the priest, nor wisdom from the wise, nor the prophet's words. Let’s roast him with our words and ignore what he says."
Listen up, Lord, and hear the voice of those who are coming for me.
Can evil repay good? They dug a pit for my soul. Remember, I stood before you to speak good for them and chill your anger.
So, let their kids face famine, and spill their blood with the sword; let their wives lose their children and be widowed; let their men get taken out; let the young ones fall in battle.
Let a shout come from their homes when you roll up on them with a squad suddenly: they dug a pit to catch me and set traps for my feet.
But, Lord, you know all their plans against me to take me out: don’t forgive their wrongs or wipe their sins from your sight, but let them get wrecked before you; handle them during your anger.
