Gen Z: Jeremiah 11
Yo, the word from the Lord hit Jeremiah, saying,
Listen up, fam! Hear the words of this covenant and tell the dudes of Judah and the peeps in Jerusalem;
And say to them, “Straight up, the Lord God of Israel says: Cursed is the dude who doesn’t vibe with this covenant,
Which I told your ancestors when I brought them outta Egypt, from that iron furnace, saying, ‘Obey my voice, and do what I say: then you’ll be my squad, and I’ll be your God.’
I’m just trying to keep my promise to your fam, to give them a land that’s lit with milk and honey, just like today. Then I said, “Bet, O Lord.”
Then the Lord told me, “Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem, saying, Hear the words of this covenant and do them.”
For I was lowkey pleading with your ancestors when I brought them up outta Egypt, even till now, waking up early and saying, “Obey my voice.”
But they totally ignored me, didn’t listen, and just followed their own sus hearts: so I’m gonna bring all the words of this covenant on them, which I told them to do; but they didn’t do it.
And the Lord told me, “There’s a conspiracy among the guys in Judah and the peeps in Jerusalem.”
They’ve gone back to the bad vibes of their ancestors, who didn’t wanna hear my words; they went after other gods to serve them: the house of Israel and the house of Judah totally broke my covenant with their fam.
So the Lord says, “Check it, I’m gonna bring some serious trouble on them that they can’t escape; and even if they cry out to me, I won’t listen.”
Then the cities of Judah and the people in Jerusalem can cry out to the gods they’re burning incense to: but they won’t save them at all when trouble hits.
For according to how many cities you got, O Judah, that’s how many gods you made; and according to how many streets in Jerusalem, you set up altars for that shameful stuff, even altars for burning incense to Baal.
So don’t even pray for this people, or lift a cry or prayer for them: I won’t hear them when they call for help in their trouble.
What’s my beloved doing in my house, seeing she’s been wildin’ with many, and the holy vibe is gone? When you do evil, you’re just living it up.
The Lord called you, a dope green olive tree, looking fresh and bearing good fruit: but with the noise of a major commotion, He lit a fire on it, and the branches got wrecked.
For the Lord of hosts, who planted you, pronounced some bad vibes against you, for the evil of the house of Israel and Judah, which they did to provoke me by burning incense to Baal.
And the Lord gave me the 411 on it, and I know what’s up: then you showed me what they were doing.
But I felt like a lamb or an ox going to the slaughter; I had no clue they were plotting against me, saying, “Let’s take out the tree with the fruit, and cut him off from the living, so his name’s forgotten.”
But, O Lord of hosts, who judges right, and tests the heart, let me see your revenge on them: for I’ve laid out my case to you.
So the Lord says to the dudes of Anathoth, who want your life, saying, “Don’t prophesy in the name of the Lord, or you’ll die by our hands.”
So the Lord of hosts says, “Check it, I’m gonna punish them: the young ones will die by the sword; their sons and daughters will starve.”
And there won’t be any leftovers: for I’m bringing evil on the guys of Anathoth, even the year of their visitation.
