Gen Z: Isaiah 8
Yo, the Lord was like, "Grab a big scroll and write down some tea about Maher–shalal–hash–baz."
So I got some real ones to back me up, Uriah the priest and Zechariah, Jeberechiah's kid.
I rolled up to the prophetess, and she got pregnant and had a son. God was like, "Name him Maher–shalal–hash–baz."
Before this kid can even say "Mom" or "Dad," the riches of Damascus and the loot from Samaria are gonna be snatched up by the Assyrian king.
The Lord hit me up again, saying,
These peeps are sleeping on the chill waters of Shiloah and are vibing with Rezin and Remaliah's son;
So for real, the Lord’s bringing in the river waters, mad strong and plentiful, like the Assyrian king and all his hype: he’s gonna flood everything.
He’s gonna roll through Judah, overflow, and even reach the neck; his wings gonna cover your whole land, Immanuel.
Get together, fam, or you’re gonna get wrecked; listen up, all you faraway peeps: gear up, or you’ll be broken too, no cap.
Plan all you want, but it’s gonna flop; speak your piece, but it won’t stick, 'cause God’s got our back.
The Lord straight-up told me with power, like, "Don’t follow the crowd, fam," saying,
"Don’t call it a squad when they say it’s a squad; don’t fear what they fear or be shook."
Keep it real with the Lord of hosts; let Him be your vibe and your fear.
He’s gonna be your safe space, but a total stumbling block for both houses of Israel, a trap for the people in Jerusalem.
A lot of them are gonna trip, fall, get broken, caught up, and taken.
Lock down the testimony, seal the law with my crew.
I’m waiting on the Lord, who’s hiding from Jacob’s house, and I’m looking for Him.
Check it, me and the kids God gave me are signs and wonders in Israel from the Lord of hosts, who’s chilling at Mount Zion.
When they say, "Go check out those with familiar spirits and wizards who whisper and mumble," like, shouldn’t people just seek their God? For the living to the dead?
Stick to the law and the testimony: if they’re not vibing with this word, it’s 'cause there’s no light in them.
They’re gonna struggle through it, barely hanging on and hungry; and when they’re starving, they’ll freak out, cursing their king and God, looking up.
They’ll check out the earth and see trouble and darkness, deep anguish; they’ll be pushed into darkness.
