Gen Z: Isaiah 51
Yo, listen up fam, if you're chasing after what's right and seeking the Lord, remember where you came from, like the rock you were carved from, and the pit you were dug out of.
Check out Abraham, your OG, and Sarah who brought you into the world; I called him solo, blessed him, and leveled him up.
The Lord's gonna comfort Zion, for real; He'll turn her wasteland into a vibe like Eden, and her desert will be straight-up garden goals; joy and good vibes will be there, along with thankfulness and sweet tunes.
Yo, my people, listen up; tune in, my nation: a law's gonna drop from me, and my judgment's gonna shine as a light for the people.
My righteousness is close, my salvation is out here, and my arms will judge the people; the islands are waiting on me, trusting in my strength, no cap.
Look up to the skies and peep the earth below; the heavens are gonna fade like smoke, and the earth's gonna get old like a worn-out fit, and everyone living there will kick the bucket too: but my salvation's forever, and my righteousness ain't going anywhere.
Listen up, you who know what's right, the people with my law in their hearts; don't stress about what others say, or let their shade get to you.
Moths are gonna munch on them like clothes, and worms will eat them like wool; but my righteousness is forever, and my salvation's gonna vibe through every generation.
Wake up, wake up, flex your strength, O arm of the Lord; rise up like back in the day, from the old-school generations. Aren't you the one who took down Rahab and wounded the dragon?
Aren't you the one who dried up the sea, the deep waters; who made the ocean floor a path for the ransomed to walk through?
So the redeemed of the Lord will come back, singing to Zion; everlasting joy's gonna be on their heads: they'll grab onto gladness and joy, and sorrow and mourning will bounce.
I, for real, am the one who comforts you: who are you to be scared of a dude who's just gonna die, or the son of man who's basically grass?
And you forget the Lord, your maker, who spread out the heavens and laid the earth's foundations; why you stressing every day 'cause of the oppressor's rage, like he’s about to end you? Where’s that oppressor's rage now?
The captive's trying to break free, so he doesn't die in the pit, or run out of bread.
But I’m the Lord your God, the one who split the sea, whose waves were lit: The Lord of hosts is my name.
I put my words in your mouth, and covered you in my hand's shadow, so I can plant the heavens, lay the earth's foundations, and tell Zion, "You’re my people."
Wake up, wake up, stand tall, O Jerusalem, you've sipped from the Lord's cup of fury; you’ve downed the dregs of the trembling cup and squeezed them out.
There’s no one to guide her among all the kids she raised; no one’s there to take her hand from all the sons she brought up.
These two things have hit you; who’s gonna feel sorry for you? Desolation, destruction, famine, and the sword: who’s gonna comfort you?
Your kids have passed out, chilling at the street corners like a wild bull caught in a net: they're filled with the Lord's anger, the rebuke of your God.
So listen up now, you who are struggling and tipsy, but not from wine:
Thus says your Lord, the Lord, and your God who fights for his people, "Look, I’ve taken the cup of trembling from your hand, even the dregs of my fury; you won’t be drinking it again."
But I’ll hand it to those who are messing with you; they said to your soul, "Bow down so we can walk over," and you laid your body down like the ground and the street for them to pass.
