Gen Z: 2 Kings 20
So like, Hezekiah was super sick, about to kick the bucket. Isaiah, the prophet, rolled up and was like, "God's saying you gotta get your house in order, fam; you’re gonna die, no cap."
Hezekiah turned to the wall and prayed to the Lord, like, "Help me out, please."
He was like, "Yo, Lord, remember how I’ve been real with you and kept it 100? I’ve done good stuff in your eyes." And Hezekiah was crying hard, fr.
Before Isaiah even made it out to the courtyard, God hit him up with a word, saying,
"Yo, go back and tell Hezekiah, my dude, that I heard your prayer and saw your tears. I got you—gonna heal you, and on the third day, you’ll roll up to my house."
"I’m adding fifteen years to your life; I’ll save you and the city from the Assyrian king. I got your back for my own reason and for David’s sake, periodt."
Isaiah was like, "Grab some figs." They put them on his boil, and he bounced back.
Hezekiah asked Isaiah, "What’s the sign that I’ll be healed and hit up the Lord’s house on day three?"
Isaiah replied, "You’ll get a sign from the Lord: Do you want the shadow to move forward ten degrees or back ten degrees?"
Hezekiah said, "That’s easy for the shadow to go down ten degrees; nah, let it go back ten degrees instead."
Isaiah prayed to the Lord, and boom, the shadow moved back ten degrees like it had dipped on Ahaz’s dial.
Meanwhile, Berodach–baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and gifts to Hezekiah since he heard he was sick.
Hezekiah was chill with them and showed off all his stuff—silver, gold, spices, and his sick armor. He flexed everything he had.
Then Isaiah came to Hezekiah and asked, "What did those guys say? Where are they from?" Hezekiah was like, "They’re from way over in Babylon."
"And what did they see in your crib?" Hezekiah replied, "They saw everything in my place; I didn’t hide anything."
Isaiah told Hezekiah, "Listen up to the Lord’s word."
"The days are coming when everything in your house and what your ancestors saved will be taken to Babylon; nothing will be left, says the Lord."
"And your future kids? They’ll be taken away and become eunuchs in the Babylon king's palace."
Hezekiah said to Isaiah, "The Lord’s word is good." He added, "Isn’t it cool if I get peace and truth during my time?"
"And all the other cool things Hezekiah did, like making a pool and bringing water to the city, aren’t they in the chronicles of Judah’s kings?"
Hezekiah passed away and joined his ancestors, and his son Manasseh took over as king.
