Gen Z: 2 Chronicles 12
So, Rehoboam got the kingdom on lock and started flexin’, but then he ghosted the Lord’s law, and all of Israel was like, “Same.”
Fast forward to year five, and Shishak from Egypt rolls up on Jerusalem ‘cause they were being sus with the Lord.
He came through with twelve hundred chariots and sixty thousand horsemen—like, the squad was endless from Egypt: the Lubims, Sukkiims, and Ethiopians.
He snagged the fortified cities belonging to Judah and made his way to Jerusalem.
Then Shemaiah the prophet pulled up on Rehoboam and the Judah squad in Jerusalem, saying, “Yo, the Lord’s saying you ditched me, so I’m leaving you in Shishak’s hands.”
The Israel princes and the king were like, “We messed up,” and admitted, “The Lord’s righteous, no cap.”
When the Lord saw them humble themselves, He hit up Shemaiah saying, “They’re humble now; I won’t wreck them completely, but I’ll give them some help; my wrath won’t hit Jerusalem through Shishak.”
But they’ll still be his servants so they can vibe with my service and the kingdoms around them.
So, Shishak from Egypt came at Jerusalem and took all the treasures from the Lord’s house and the king’s crib; he even snatched the gold shields Solomon made.
Instead, Rehoboam made brass shields and gave them to the chief guard at the king’s entrance.
When the king went into the Lord’s house, the guard came and grabbed the shields, bringing them back to the guard chamber.
When he humbled himself, the Lord eased up on his wrath and didn’t wipe him out completely, plus things were going alright in Judah.
So, King Rehoboam got stronger in Jerusalem and ruled: he was 41 when he started, reigning for 17 years in the city the Lord chose from all the tribes of Israel. His mom was Naamah, an Ammonite queen.
He did bad stuff ‘cause he didn’t prep his heart to seek the Lord, fr.
Now, the deeds of Rehoboam, from start to finish, are they not in the book of Shemaiah the prophet and Iddo the seer about the family lines? There were constant beefs between Rehoboam and Jeroboam.
Rehoboam passed away and was buried in David’s city; his son Abijah took over the throne.
