Gen Z: 1 Samuel 31
The Philistines were throwing down against Israel, and the Israelites dipped hard, getting wrecked on Mount Gilboa.
The Philistines chased Saul and his crew, and they took out Jonathan, Abinadab, and Malchi-shua, Saul’s sons.
The battle was brutal for Saul, and the archers tagged him; he was super hurt.
Saul told his armor-bearer, "Yo, stab me with your sword so these uncircumcised don’t come and clown me." But his armor-bearer was shook and wouldn’t do it, so Saul just took a sword and went for it.
When the armor-bearer saw Saul was done for, he also went for his sword and died with him.
So Saul, his three sons, his armor-bearer, and all his boys were gone that same day.
The Israelites on the other side of the valley and Jordan saw the squad dip and that Saul and his sons were kaput, so they bounced from the cities, and the Philistines moved in.
The next day, when the Philistines came to loot the fallen, they found Saul and his three sons down on Mount Gilboa.
They chopped off his head, stripped his armor, and sent it all over Philistine land to flex in front of their idols and people.
They tossed his armor in Ashtaroth's crib and nailed his body to the wall of Beth-shan.
When the peeps in Jabesh-gilead heard what the Philistines did to Saul,
All the brave ones got up, rolled all night, and took Saul and his sons' bodies from the wall of Beth-shan, then went to Jabesh and burned them up.
They grabbed their bones and buried them under a tree at Jabesh, then fasted for seven days.
