Gen Z: 1 Samuel 29
The Philistines pulled up with all their squads at Aphek, while the Israelites set up by a fountain in Jezreel.
The Philistine bosses rolled through in hundreds and thousands, but David and his crew were chilling in the back with Achish.
The Philistine princes were like, "What are these Hebrews doing here?" Achish was like, "Isn't this David, Saul's dude? I’ve seen no cap from him since he joined me."
The princes were mad and told Achish, "Send him back! We can’t have him in this battle, or he might turn on us. How would he make peace with Saul? By taking out our guys?"
Isn’t this David, the one they were vibing about in dances, saying, "Saul killed his thousands, but David his tens of thousands?"
Achish called David and said, "For real, you’ve been solid, and your time with me has been good. I haven’t seen anything sus from you since day one, but the lords aren’t feeling it."
So now bounce and go in peace, so you don’t upset the Philistine lords.
David was like, "What did I do? What have you found wrong with me since day one that I can’t fight for my king?"
Achish replied, "I know you’re good in my eyes, like an angel, but the princes said you can’t roll with us to battle."
So get up early with your master’s crew that came with you, and as soon as it’s light, dip out.
David and his squad got up early to head back to the Philistine land, while the Philistines went up to Jezreel.
